The LifeStraw Go BPA-free plastic water bottle with 2-stage filter is a very practical bottle. The handle makes it easy to take the bottle with you, or you can attach a lanyard/carabiner to it, which makes it easy to attach the water bottle to your backpack. The best thing about this bottle is its simplicity. You fill the bottle with polluted water and simply drink from the mouth piece. The dirt stays behind in the filter, and you will only drink clean water.

LifeStraw Go BPA-free plastic water bottle

This LifeStraw Go BPA-free water bottle is made of transparent 50% recycled plastic sourced from consumers. Plastic is lightweight and easy to clean. If you take out the filter beforehand, the bottle is dishwasher safe.

What does this LifeStraw GO filter?

The 2-stage filter works as follows. The membrane microfilter removes bacteria (including E.coli + Salmonella), parasites (including Giardia and Cryptosporidium), microplastics, sand, dirt and murkiness. The carbon filter reduces chlorine, scents and organic chemicals.

Additional information about the filter:

  • Bacteria: 99.9999% (LOG 6 reduction). This LifeStraw filters, amongst others, E. coli bacteria from water. Meets US EPA and NSF P231 drinking water standards for bacteria removal.
  • Protozoa: 99.9% (LOG 3 reduction). Protozoa is a collective term for single-celled parasites. Frequently occurring protozoa which LifeStraw successfully filters from the water are Giardia and Cryptosporidium. Meets US EPA and NSF P231 drinking water standards for parasite removal.
  • Microplastics: this LifeStraw filters 99.9999% of microplastics from water.
  • Chlorine: this chemical irritates your eyes and skin and can make breathing difficult. In very low doses it is also used to disinfect water. This filter removes chlorine from the water. The longer the carbon filter is given the chance to filter the water, the more chlorine is removed from the water. Meets NSF 42 standard for chlorine reduction.
  • Smell and flavour: even though it might not always be harmful, if water tastes funny you won't enjoy drinking it. Fortunately, the carbon filter will reduce these bad tastes.
  • Pesticides and herbicides: these are chemical pesticides used in food production. They end up in water as the result of rainfall. Even though they might not immediately cause you harm, long-term exposure could be harmful.
  • Viruses: unfortunately this filter does not remove viruses from the water.

LifeStraw Go filter lifespan

The membrane microfilter lasts up to 4,000 litres, that is approximately five years with daily use. The membrane microfilter lasts as long as 8,000 single-use plastic water bottles! The second filter consists of the carbon filter that reduces chlorine, aftertaste and pesticides. The carbon filter is effective for approximately 100 litres, you need to replace it afterwards.

Cleaning the water filter

When the primary filter is saturated with dirt, you won't be able to drink from it. Blow air into the filter via the mouthpiece to blow the dirt out of the filter. If you are no longer able to remove the dirt you need to replace the filter.

Help yourself, help another

Tackling global issues is in LifeStraw’s DNA. In 2014 they started the 'Follow the liters'-program. For every LifeStraw being sold, a child in a developing community will get clean drinking water for an entire school year!
